A new Latin American location has opened the doors for even more innovation, experimentation and, of course, partying

The beautiful city of Buenos Aires was host to the Sónar format for the first time last weekend. As the festival expands its offering to Latin America (the festival was also held in São Paulo, Santiago and Bogota last week), it takes with it an unparalleled reputation and the same distinctive format that’s made it one of the best festival experiences on the planet.

While the festival also prides itself on the non-musical entertainment to be had alongside the tunes, sonic amusement was provided by the likes of the electro glam monkier of Orlando Higginbotham, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs;  the Cómeme-affiliated, counterculture soundtracking duo DJs Pareja; seasoned but always surprising party-starters Hot Chip; and, of course, the still intense, still agenda-pushing, Chemical Brothers. See a few visual highights in the gallery above.
