Welcome back to Selections, a series of artist-curated playlists from those in the know.

Since the release of their debut EP Disaster Pop in 2021, Nukuluk have carved out a space as an increasingly vital force with their raw, dynamic creations.

Sonically, the south London experimental collective gleefully saunters from brooding pop to swaggering rap, warped electronics and explosive alt-rock with nods to trip-hop, r’n’b, ambient and metal along the way. As their latest release Superglue evidences.

Released last month, Nukuluk’s new EP takes their uncompromising vision up a notch – ranging from the melancholic vulnerability of opener I Just Wanna Luv U to the glitchy potency of Covered In Gold and closer Kick Snare. The latter of which sustains a taut atmosphere via flurries of guttural guitar riffs, vehement bars and foreboding electronic oscillations.

For their Selections playlist the five-piece – made up of vocalist and guitarist Syd, synth-player Olivia, vocalist Monika, bassist Mateo and drummer Louis – have curated an eclectic array of tracks that have influenced them on both a personal level and as a collective.

Featuring the likes of aya, Tricky, Richard Dawson, Moin and Black Dresses, “this is a mixture of music that has inspired us collectively and individually,” the band tells us, “spanning all the genres we’re trying to expand ourselves with and make headway within. Very happy to share it.”

Superglue is out now.
