Darwin

This week’s Crack Mix comes courtesy of Berlin-based selector Darwin. Since 2014 Darwin has been a resident at Berlin institution Griessmuehle, where she also hosts REEF: a semi-regular party with a laser focus on UK club music responsible for bringing the likes of Pinch, Kode9, and Objekt to the Neukölln spot for 24-hour raves that join the dots between techno, dubstep and breakbeat.

Darwin also channels her avidity for UK-centric sounds into her label SPE:C, which to date has released a series of steely EPs from Bristolian producers Decka and Trans A.M, as well as this year’s brilliantly moody two-tracker Triptan by Significant Other.

Darwin’s Crack Mix is in essence a two-parter: the first hour or so is composed of harder, dancefloor-focused sounds whereas the second transitions into spacey, chill-out territory with rolling jungle, breaks and footwork. No tracklist for this one but we’re reliably informed that there’s a couple of dubs from Loefah and Kellen303 as well as forthcoming SPE:C releases in the mix. Highly recommended listening.

Darwin plays at REEF, Griessmuehle, on 22 September
