Mr Price

In an era where clubs are increasingly beset by overzealous policing and mercenary developers, some of the UK’s best parties happen on the edges, in impromptu venues which whilst often far from ideal, are endowed with a certain shine from enterprising promoters with the flair to make a space their own.

One such figure is Mr Price, who co-runs the roving club night Studio 89. As the name suggests, it’s a disco-endebted affair, which pops up in various subterranean venues across the South of England, most recently in the cellar of a former sex shop in Bristol’s Old Market district (now earmarked to be developed into luxury flats, natch.)

As one of Studio 89’s bookers and residents, Mr Price has invited the likes of Roi Perez, Optimo, and Honey Soundsystem to recent parties, opening and closing the night with a dexterity and depth of selection that matches that of his guests.

This weekend Mr Price will be appearing at Crack Magazine’s mammoth In:Motion party alongside Helena Hauff, Moodymann, Ben UFO and more. To mark the occasion he’s laid down an icy concoction of techno, electro, and acid from the likes of Juan Atkins and The Hacker that showcases his diversity as a selector and sets the scene for Saturday perfectly.
