Ryan James Ford

Though his name might be most closely associated with Berlin techno (having made his debut as a producer on Marcel Dettmann’s MDR imprint in 2015), Ryan James Ford’s style as a DJ shows fluency across a number of dancefloor languages.

Absorbing rave, jungle, DnB, IDM and hardcore, he plays with a velocity and dynamism which captures the thrill of discovery-via-raving. This Saturday (3 March), he’ll play a breakbeat set at Unpolished Festival in Amsterdam, sharing a bill with the likes of Helena Hauff, Samuel Kerridge and UMFANG. As he dusts off the darker crates in his collection in preparation for the set, he’s turned in a blistering Crack Mix spanning neck-snapping breakbeat, featherweight jungle and squelchy IDM, all stitched together with an exacting precision that only comes through experience.

Strap in and listen to Crack Mix 193 in the player above.
