CRACK TV: Zebra Katz

Last month we spent a week in Sweden’s capital of culture: Gothenburg. The city’s vibrant musical scene has spawned artists as diverse as The Knife, Jose Gonzales, Little Dragon, Air France and (depending on who you ask) Goat. When we weren’t enjoying the sunshine, cruising down the city’s many canals or riding around in little replica Volvos at the city’s tremendous theme park, we managed to catch up with a few of our favourite bands who were in town for Way Out West festival.

The festival is an important part of the city’s cultural calendar. Each year artists from around the world descend upon the city and attract thousands to the Gothenburg’s biggest park for an event which incorporates film, vegan food and plenty of live music. Over the next few weeks we will bring you a series of videos from the festival and from the streets of Gothenburg as we attempt to capture the essence of a scene that has spawned, and welcomed, some of the most exciting musical artists working today.

In this first instalment we speak to Zebra Katz before his performance at GBG studios. He told us about touring in Europe, honing his unique style and the challenges he faces as he continues to reject stereotypes and attempts to change minds.
