SLEEP PARTY PEOPLE

Perched in a peculiar nomansland between the ambient ambition of post-rock and the sparkling lo-fi bedroom pop of Youth Lagoon, this Danish collective are something very unique indeed. Using the homemade project of Brian Batz as a starting point, in the flesh SPP evolves into an immense, en masse production, a series of ‘Live Bunnies’ joining the man himself onstage to form an orchestra, clad in sinister rabbit masks and hoods. One glimpse was more than enough to persuade Blood and Biscuits to snap up debut album We Were Drifting on a Sad Song, a lovely collection where melody sits very much at the forefront, drum machines patting away in the background while Batz’s heavily effected yet angelic vocals swoon and swoop.
