Selections: Bambounou

Welcome back to Selections, a series of exclusive artist-curated Spotify playlists from those in the know.

A figure at the forefront of Parisian club culture, Bambounou (aka Jéremy Guindo-Zegiestowski) draws on his French, Malian and Polish heritage to shape his own distinct strand of techno, IDM and tribal textures. Leaning on his African side for percussions and complex polyrhythms, the mood of his cuts, as stated previously by the artist, draws from his Polish background.

Having first discovered club culture as a teenager, Bambounou began releasing his bass-heavy tracks via French labels such ClekClekBoom before later rising in prominence via a consistent stream of EPs via Modeselektor’s imprint, 50Weapons. Now a titan of the French underground scene, his touring schedule lists off the likes of Panorama Bar, Concrete, De School and more.

Coming through with an exclusive playlist for Crack Magazine, Bambounou’s selections are suitably humid for this heat. Comprised of ambient slices and big-room techno, this one’s a soundtrack for the nights building up to the club.

Bambounou appears at DGTL Barcelona, Parc del Forum, 10-11 August
