Having grown up during Prince’s purple era and come up as a session musician and producer during the 90s heyday of G-funk, Dâm-Funk has always been immersed in the sound he built into his own name. His ascension as a solo artist has made him something of a figurehead for modern funk, not to mention one of the most sought-after DJs around.

His selections draw from artists you’d expect – Prince, 7 Days of Funk – and those you might not (Soft Cell, Human League), but as ever are guided by an innate understanding of the hallmarks of funk. As he once put it, it’s “a feeling of struggle and staying cool through it all.”
