Selections: EOD

Welcome back to Selections, a series of exclusive artist-curated Spotify playlists from those in the know.

Stian Gjevik began making music back in 2002, releasing (and self-releasing) on a handful of labels before signing to Aphex Twin’s Rephlex Records in 2009. The respected label became home to two key releases by the Norwegian producer and DJ: EOD Volume 1 and 2. Although the influence of Richard D James is present in Gjevik’s strain of IDM, it doesn’t define it. Instead, under the moniker EOD, Gjevik pushes stylistic boundaries to create a sound that’s both buoyant and invigorating.

Now signed to Bjarki’s bbbbbb records, this year saw Gjevik release his album Named, a multi-textured entrance point into a producer whose career trajectory seems to entering an exciting new phase. This exclusive Selections is as intense and revelatory as you might expect, pulling together the likes of Arthur Russell – here represented by the a track from archival release Calling Out of Context – Terry Riley, Shackleton, Art of Noise and EOD himself.

EOD is part of the SHAPE platform for innovative music and audiovisual art, supported by the Creative Europe programme of the EU.
