South African DJ and producer Esa – full name Esa Williams – was recently announced as Phonox’s new Saturday resident. Hailing from Cape Town, but with stints in Glasgow and now, London, his music reflects this journey, incorporating global influences and percussive drive.

His residency at Phonox cements a new chapter in his relationship with the UK capital, and he follows previous residents such as HAAi and Jasper James. In the lead up to his residency, the producer took some time out to curate a playlist delving into his musical pathway and providing insight into what he’ll be bringing to the decks in October. “Here is a selection of what to expect from me, with a focus on music from my roots, the projects I’m involved in and the people I’ve built special relationships with,” he writes. “I’m happy to share it with you and I look forward to you experiencing more of this with me at Phonox.”
