Phonox will open on the old site of Plan B in September.
This September London will be given a brand new club space. As we reported earlier this month a new venture led by Andy Peyton, the director of XOYO and The Nest, will soon be opening its doors on the former site of Brixton institution Plan B. The club has now been named Phonox and Peyton has set out a clear path ahead in terms of the club’s musical curation.
They have said that they will have a monthly resident, in a similar move to XOYO’s current approach to programming, with a focus on simplicity which involves “one dance floor, one great system and one DJ all night.” Friday nights will see a rotation of DJs while Saturdays will see the club’s resident taking control of the decks.
“We’ve got a very specific plan and set rules for ourselves to make the club into the place we want it to be” Says Peyton, “A dance floor full of people with smiles on their faces, not facing the DJ with camera phones at the ready, but enjoying the music for its own sake.”
The club is set to open in September this year and will be open from 6PM each evening as a bar before transitioning into a club later in the evening.
More information on the line-up, resident and launch party will be revealed on 3 August. In the meantime, keep an eye on their website.
