Sleaford Mods’ Key Markets pushed back

A Record Store Day backlog is causing the delay

A backlog at vinyl pressing plants caused by Record Store Day means Sleaford Mods have been forced to push back the release date of their new full-length, Key Markets.

The album will now be released on 24 July.

Record Store Day is an international event that encourages independent record shops to celebrate with special releases and in-store events. It has taken place on the third Saturday of April every year since 2007.

The issue of Record Store Day affecting the vinyl output of independent labels was brought to light last year by Sonic Cathedral and Howling Owl in an ‘Unofficial Official Statement’ that criticised bands like U2 that continue to “constipate the world’s pressing plants” while their releases languish at “the back of the queue after some Foo Fighters studio scrapings, a host of EPs by The 1975 and about a million heavyweight ‘heritage rock’ reissues that no-one really needs”.
