Oneohtrix Point Never has an album with young footwork producer DJ Earl

DJ Earl, one of the younger members of Chicago footwork crew Teklife, has recorded an album with Daniel Lopatin, aka Oneohtrix Point Never.

In an interview with Wine and Bottles, Earl explained that he met Lopatin at the New Form Festival in Vancouver, where both of them were playing. “I wasn’t that familiar with what he did at the time, but he’s an amazing guy,” Earl said. “Without revealing too many details in terms of what happened next, I have a record coming out on Teklife, and Daniel did get involved with the record. We put together the entire album together actually, he was very hands on.” Lopatin reportedly contributed mixing, arrangement, and keyboards to the album.

In other Teklife-related news, the collective’s new label have announced Afterlife, a compilation of collaborative tracks featuring the late DJ Rashad. A percentage of the profits will go to Rashad’s family, you can find more info here.
