Netflix to air Motown-themed animated series

The series is co-produced by Smokey Robinson and will feature 52 contemporary covers of classic Motown songs

Netflix have announced a brand new animated series set in a fictional city called Motown. The currently untitled project will focus on the adventures of an 8-year-old boy called Ben who has the ability bring street art to life.

The series will be directed by Josh Wakely – the driving forced behind Netflix’ Beatles inspired kids show Beat Bugs – and Motown great Smokey Robinson will serve as executive producer. Robinson will also act as a music supervisor on the series. He’ll be overseeing 52 covers of Motown classics by contemporary artists with each episode inspired by a specific song.
