Auction of Tupac’s 1995 prison letter to Madonna halted

Personal items, such as worn underwear and a hairbrush, were included in the auction

Madonna has won an emergency court order to halt an auction of her personal items, including various love letters – such as the one written by former boyfriend Tupac while he was in prison – worn underwear, private photographs, a hairbrush containing her hair and more. The judge barred the auction house from going ahead with the sale, which was scheduled for today (19 July). While the auction included 120 items, according to NY Daily News, Madonna sought to block the sale of 22 belongings.

In a statement that Madonna filed to court, she said the items were taken from her by a “former friend”, named Darlene Lutz, and that she “had no idea” they were no longer in her possession. She’s called the auction “outrageous and grossly offensive”.

In the 1995 letter from Tupac, the rapper explained that the he broke up with Madonna because of the implications of him dating a white woman.
