Jóhann Jóhannsson is no longer involved with Blade Runner 2049

Hans Zimmer and Benjamin Wallfisch were brought on board as additional composers in August

Earlier this year, Crack reported that composer Jóhann Jóhannsson had been joined by both Hans Zimmer and Benjamin Wallfisch on scoring duties for Blade Runner 2049. Jóhann Jóhannsson was originally confirmed as the sole composer in August last year. While it seemed an unusually late-in-the-day move – the movie is released on 6 October – the film’s director Denis Villeneuve confirmed that Jóhannsson was still involved in the project.

However, last night Iceland Review reported that Jóhannsson, a longtime collaborator of Villeneuve, is no longer on board. “Jóhann’s agent has confirmed to Fréttablaðið that the Icelandic composer is no longer involved with the film in any capacity,” the report states. “Though he is prohibited from saying anything at this point due to his contract.”

The latest movie poster now only shows Hans Zimmer and Benjamin Wallfisch’s names. We have reached out to the film’s representatives for comment.
