Prince rumours suggest a stripped-back sixteen-date European tour

The proposed dates will take the icon and his piano around Europe in two weeks time

Prince appeared at a press conference slash party over the weekend to announce a planned sixteen-stop tour around Europe – though his press officers are keen to make it clear that the dates have not been confirmed as yet.

The announcement was made by Prince himself at a 200-strong conference on Saturday. The name of the tour has been hinted as ‘Prince Spotlight: Piano & A Microphone’, suggesting a step back into rawer stage setup.

The tour will reportedly take in sixteen cities in eleven countries, including four UK shows in Glasgow, Liverpool, Birmingham, and London, and will start at Konzerthaus in Vienna on 21 November.

As reported by TLOBF, Prince said of the surprise tour: “Why do this now? For several reasons. For starters it is a challenge. I do not want to have bad reviews, but not back to what I’m sure I can do because I’ve done for 30 years. You have to try new things. With the piano it is more naked, more pure. You can see exactly what you get.”

The dates are yet to be announced, but it looks like Prince’s Twitter is the place to be to get the full scoop as soon as it breaks.

UPDATE: Prince has posted an update on Twitter directing to the starting point of the tour, Wiener Konzerthaus, who have indicated on their website that “Due to the tragic events in Paris, the tour promoter has decided to postpone the upcoming European tour until further notice.”
