The ambient master is releasing his “more melancholic, ultraviolet” follow-up to 2013’s Virgins

Tim Hecker, most famously known for his ambient work put out through Kranky Records, is readying his first release through 4AD: Love Streams, set for release 8 April.

The album will feature two previous collaborators, Kara-Lis Coverdale and Grímur Helgason, and the Icelandic Choir Ensemble. Oscar-nominated composer Jóhann Jóhannsson has scored the vocal arrangements, and the LP was recorded over two years at Greenhouse Studios, Reykjavik.

In a press release, Hecker has said he considered “liturgical aesthetics after Yeezus“, the”transcendental voice in the age of auto-tune,” and “the ubiquity and nihilism of streaming of all forms of life” while recording the album.
