Hamburg’s Golden Pudel to be auctioned in April

The Hamburger Morgenpost reports that the infamous St Pauli club will be auctioned off in April

Due to to an ongoing legal battle between the building’s owners, Rocko Schamoni and Wolf Richter Hamburg’s Golden Pudel looks to be facing an uncertain future.

Since 2014 Schamoni and Richter have been locked in a court battle over payments made into a not-for-profit fund the pair created in order to purchase the building.

The building has been listed on German real estate website ImmobilienScout24 for a price of €250,000, but has been valued at €510,000.

As RA point out, the building’s sale doesn’t necessarily mean Golden Pudel will end as the club’s lease is valid for another 12 years and an organisation known as The Freaks Are Alright are still campaigning to save the iconic club.

UPDATE:

A crowdfunding campaign has been launched to put the Golden Pudel into the hands of the community.

The campaign, which you can view over on IndieGogo, has been launched by Electronic Beats editor Michael Aniser. The crowdfunding initative is seeking €800,000 to buy out the venue and give ownership to the community.
