ATP: “Events will go ahead as scheduled”

ATP and Pontins are currently working on a full statement

The return of ATP to its holiday camp origins has been marred by controversy this year. The uncertainty began when the festival’s venue, Pontins, announced that the events taking place 15-17 and 22-24 April (curated by Stewart Lee and Drive By Jehu, respectively) had been cancelled while ATP recanted the claims citing a “miscommunication”.

Although The Quietus recently shared emails from Pontins stating that the festival is definitely cancelled, last night (1 March) ATP shared a message confirming that the festivals are going ahead via Facebook. “For clarity, and to reassure customers who have purchased tickets or travel for the upcoming festivals, these events will go ahead as scheduled: at Pontins Prestatyn, on 15th-17th April & 22nd-24th April,” they wrote. “We would like to apologise for our silence today, and for not getting back to all of your questions individually. We have been working with Pontins Management to release a full statement confirming this within the next 24 hours.”

Pontins are yet to issue further comment on the matter, but they have told Billboard that they are yet to receive payment from ATP and that the event could still go ahead as a “shared occupancy”. This arrangement would mean that festival-goers and holiday makers would be using the holiday park at the same time.
