Emily Eavis confirms the Glastonbury team will launch new festival

The new event will be held in a new location “in 2019 or 2018, but probably 2019” according to Eavis

Whispers have been rife about a new format for Glastonbury Festival in the coming years, and festival co-organiser Emily Eavis has added more fuel to the rumour mill today by revealing the Glasto team are definitely planning a new event for “2019 or 2018, but probably 2019”.

“We are going to do a show somewhere else with the same team behind Glastonbury but it hasn’t got a name yet and we’re still not entirely sure what shape it’s going to take,” she told the Guardian. “For now we’re all [focused] on Worthy Farm. We’re not thinking too far down that road because we’re quite busy with this one at the moment!”

Glastonbury festival takes place from 22-26 June at Worthy Farm.
