Powell has posted his email address on billboards around London

The Diagonal founder wants fans to email and ask him anything they want

UK producer Powell is about to drop some new material but not before he’s replied to a truck load of emails from fans and randoms alike. To promote what we can only assume is an upcoming release for XL Recordings Powell has plastered his personal email address on billboards around London and asked people to email him asking anything they want.

Speaking to FACT Powell says he wants to “take a massive cathartic shit and get rid of a ton of old music that was never gonna make the record and won’t ever come out.” Before adding, “I’m gonna reply to anyone and everyone yes, the conversations I’ve had already are bonkers. I will give away different music to different people so they feel extra special.”

Powell also mentioned that the idea was partly inspired by a publicity campaign last year where he put up billboards featuring a disgruntled rant from legendary producer Steve Albini after he’d asked for permission to use a sample in one of his songs. “It was interesting what happened with the Albini billboard. Lots of conversations about the state of communication today, privacy etc,” Powell told FACT. “Exposing myself like this felt like it could become an experiment of sorts — what happens when you give yourself away like this and invite people in?”
