The Independent claims Fabric’s closure was premeditated

The newspaper cite council statement, police report and spending review to suggest budget cuts had caused the involved parties to seek pursue closure

The newspaper point to two key documents in making the claim: the official statement of Islington Council with regard to the closure, and a report from an undercover police operation, suspiciously titled ‘Operation Lenor’, that took place in July. The police report is shown to have commented on the diverse and friendly atmosphere inside the club.

The article goes on to point out that budget cuts at Islington Council are the reason that the council has taken on this active pursuit of the club’s closure, with the cost of maintaining a police presence a major factor.
