The Diagonal boss follows in the footsteps of Pet Shop Boys and Goldfrapp
The latest to have a Wolfgang Tillmans-directed video to his name (Pet Shop Boys and Goldfrapp are two others) Powell has tapped the renowned German photographer for new track Freezer. The video features nature imagery juxtaposed against still shots of military forces that flicker and pulsate to Powell’s visceral beats. Further new material is set to be released soon via XL Recordings and Diagonal, though a release date has not yet been announced.
Furthermore, Powell will be playing live tomorrow (28 April) at Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall. Co-curated by Wolfgang Tillmans and NTS, the event will include live visuals from the artist accompanied by performances from Debonair and Pussy Mothers.
