The Icelandic artist has also been locked in for a DJ set on the opening night of Sónar Festival
Björk will be linking up with Sónar this year to host the virtual reality exhibition Björk Digital at Barcelona’s Centre For Contemporary Culture (CCCB). Sónar have said that virtual reality will play an integral role in the experience, combining “performance, cinema, installation, video and interaction”. The opening night of Sónar festival, taking place on 14 June, will see the Icelandic icon take over the decks with a four-hour set at Fira Montjuïc’s SonarHall stage.
Furthermore, as part of the Sónar+D programme, the artist will be delivering a talk. This year’s talks will revolve around “new narratives in Virtual Reality, immersive experiences, the impact of Artificial Intelligence on the arts, maker and new music technologies trends”.
Björk Digital has previously been showcased at London’s Somerset House. Sónar Festival will be taking place in Barcelona on 15-17 June, with Sónar+D returning for its fifth edition on 14-17 June.
