Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood scores Joaquin Phoenix film You Were Never Really Here

Director Lynne Ramsay has previously tapped the guitarist to score her 2011 film We Need To Talk About Kevin

It’s been announced that Jonny Greenwood has produced the score for new upcoming thriller, You Were Never Really Here, starring Joaquin Phoenix. It’s set to be premiered at Cannes Film Festival this month (May).

The plot is based on Jonathan Ames’ novella of the same name, and follows a war veteran who tries to rescue a young girl from a sex trafficking ring.

Greenwood is no stranger to the film industry, having scored three Paul Thomas Anderson films – two of which star Joaquin Phoenix. He’s previously scored Anderson’s 2012 film The Master, 2014’s Inherent Vice and 2007’s There Will Be Blood.

Plans are also in motion for the Radiohead member to score the director’s next as-yet-untitled film, which will star Daniel Day-Lewis and be released at Christmas.
