Avalon Emerson remixes Slowdive’s Sugar For The Pill

The San Fran DJ and producer has shared her remix of the single from Slowdive’s forthcoming album

Avalon Emerson tweeted the video of her remix of Sugar For The Pill today (2 May). In the caption, she says that the showgaze pioneers have “always been a pillar of my music foundation, and it was a dream to make an official remix”.

The video title names Emerson’s remix as a ‘Gilded Escalation’.

The original track is from Slowdive’s forthcoming self-titled album. The eponymous release is set to drop this week (5 May) via Dead Oceans. The announcement of Slowdive was made in March, and was accompanied with a surprise show at The Garage, in London.

Slowdive will be the band’s first release in 22 years, following up from their 1995 album Pygmalion. On their comeback, band member Neil Halstead said, “I’m genuinely excited that there’s a new generation that has some sort of resonance with what we do. It’s not just a bunch of old shoegazers”.
