XL founder Richard Russell drops EP featuring Giggs and Warren Ellis

Close But Not Quite has been unveiled today (12 May)

After sharing teasers earlier this year in March, the new collaborative project Everything Is Recorded – helmed by XL Recordings boss Richard Russell – has unveiled the debut EP, Close But Not Quite. Recorded at Russell’s west London studio, The Copper House, the project has linked up with a number of established artists with new talent.

Opening track Close But Not Quite features vocals from Sampha, while Early This Morning sees Giggs lay down some bars to a recontextualisation of Gil Scott-Heron’s Me And The Devil. Other collaborators include Nigerian-born London-based artist Obongjayar, Warren Ellis – who’s previously worked with Nick Cave – Infinite, Mela Murder, Green Gartside, Tic and Baluji Shrivastav.
