Dev Hynes connects with pioneering composer Philip Glass in a new interview

Blood Orange invites the composer to his NYC loft for a video interview

In a new video segment for NPR, alt-pop R&B producer and songwriter, Dev Hynes – otherwise known as Blood Orange – interviews the pioneering composer Philip Glass.

In the interview, Glass talks candidly about his musical trajectory, the obstacles he faced and the importance of the arts challenging society. Hynes discusses the first time he discovered Glass’ work and the shaping influence the composer has had on his sound.

The interview comes after Hynes covered Glass’ Metamorphosis Three from his 1989 album Solo Piano.
