Watch a new gospel-influenced video from William Onyeabor

Is this a new track from the elusive musician?

An eleven-minute gospel track from enigmatic Nigerian synth-funk pioneer William Onyeabor has surfaced. The cult musician has a mythologised backstory – Onyeabor self-released eight studio albums between 1978 and 1985 and since becoming a born-again Christian, he had disassociated himself with his music career. Last year, David Byrne released a compilation of his tracks entitled Who Is William Onyeabor? via his Luaka Bop label, as well as commissioning covers from the likes of Daphni.

Now, a video uploaded in late September appears to be a new track from the elusive musician. The track, Many Mansions, has a strong evangelical influence and was uploaded by the Youtube channel Divine Praise, yet there’s currently little information about the track.
