A trailer has been shared for Straight Outta Compton, the N.W.A biopic which is due out this August. The trailer is preceded by an intro featuring Dr. Dre and Ice Cube, who discuss the impact of the group’s legacy with The Game and Kendrick Lamar. You can watch it below.
The film stars Marcus Callender as Dr. Dre, Jason Mitchell as Eazy E, Aldis Hodge as MC Ren (Compton rapper YG had auditioned for the role) while Ice Cube is being played by his son O’Shea Jackson and the group’s manager Jerry Heller is portrayed by Paul Giamatti.
When Crack spoke to Ice Cube last year, he described Straight Outta Compton as “a very important movie dealing with courage, and standing up for what you think is right.” You can read the rest of that interview here.
