Global stars unite to create the world’s happiest playlist

To celebrate the International Day of Happiness alongside the 70th anniversary of the United Nations’ commitment to maintaining international peace and security, MixRadio has teamed up with a host of global stars to harness the happiness-conjuring qualities of music.

Alongside a viral video which shows a range of musicians, politicians and members of the global community getting down to alternative pop star Charli XCX’s smash Boom Clap, which you can check out below, the world’s most personalised music streaming service has collaborated with a range of artists to select the song which makes them happiest.

Worldwide megastars like Britney Spears, who selects Kiss by Prince, and Michael Douglas – that’s right – who opts for Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah, no less – rub shoulders with Crack favourites including Horse Meat Disco and Damian Lazarus. Charlie XCX, meanwhile, chips in with a Spice Girls gem. Even UN Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon contributes a soul classic – we won’t spoil the surprise – citing “the universal language of music” as a means to show solidarity.

But the playlist isn’t reserved for big names – everyone is encouraged to nominate the song which makes them happiest via the #HappySoundsLike hashtag, culminating in the world’s most joyous playlist. Even the biggest cynic on the planet couldn’t help but raise a smile.

Contribute to the playlist via Twitter and Facebook, find more information about the campaign at happysoundslike.com, and watch the video below.

Happy World Happiness Day.
