Waka Flocka Flame cancels University of Oklahoma gig in protest of racist fraternity

Waka Flocka Flame has pulled a forthcoming gig at the University of Oklahoma in response to footage of a campus fraternity singing a racist song. On Sunday (8 March) a video surfaced of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity chanting a crude, slur-ridden song which bragged that African-Americans will never be able to join them.

Waka has previously partied with the fraternity, and was scheduled to perform at the SAE chapter of the University on 25 April. However, after becoming aware of the video, he’s pulled the gig and posted a statement on Instagram. “We can’t change history but we damn sure can create our own future #DeathToRacism,” it says. You can read the full statement below.

Waka Flocka Flame’s forthcoming album Flockaveli 2 is expected to be released 1 June and feature appearances from Kanye West, Jay Z, Lil Wayne, Drake and 50 Cent.
