Nelly arrested for possession of meth, weed and firearms – lawyer claims innocence

The Hot in Herre rapper has been caught with very illegal substances on his tour bus once again.

On Saturday (11 April), Nelly’s tour bus was pulled over by the Tennessee highway patrol once they’d smelt marijuana fumes drifting from the vehicle. It was announced that during their search, they found five rocks which tested positive for meth, alongside a small amount of marijuana, some drug paraphernalia and numerous handguns including a 50-caliber Desert Eagle pistol, a .45-caliber Tarus pistol and a 500-magnum Smith and Wesson.

The 40-year-old artist is facing charges such as possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia, and his next court date is on 19 June. Nelly’s lawyer Scott Rosenblum insists that the singer will be exonerated once the facts come to light. TMZ report that Rosenblum is preparing to defend him by claiming that the drugs didn’t belong to Nelly. He says that 15 to 20 people had access to the tour bus before it got pulled over. And while he confesses that a small amount of ecstasy was found, he says that “Nelly will not be associated with the contraband that was allegedly discovered.”

A man called Brian Jones was arrested alongside Nelly and charged with being a felon in possession of a handgun. Back in 2012, Jones took the rap when Nelly found himself in similar trouble after his tour bus was searched by border control staff in West Texas. The police found .64 ounces of heroin, over ten pounds of marijuana and a loaded .45 caliber pistol. Jones, who was a member of Nelly’s entourage, took responsibility for the items and was arrested.
