Pop-Kultur present a new, three day festival in Berghain

A new three day festival is launching in Berlin.

From the organisers of Musicboard Berlin, Pop-Kultur is a brand new event taking place in the city in August. The schedule is spread across the Berghain complex, set to host live performances, DJs, talks and lectures in Panorama Bar, the Halle am Berghain, the Schlackehalle, the Berghain canteen and the cloakroom.

The event aims to bring artists “out of their comfort zone”, presenting a host of premieres including exclusive collaborations from Anika and Krautrock-veteran and NEU!-member Michael Rother, as well as Owen Pallett and the Stargaze Ensemble. Pantha Du Prince will also be debuting his vocal performance alongside his new project The Triad.

The wide range of live acts includes the latest signing to Daniel Lopatin’s Software roster, Gabi, who will be performing her unique art-pop-opera hybrid, alongside moody RnB duo 18+, hyper-pop three piece Kero Kero Bonito and Swedish icon Neneh Cherry with her band RocketNumberNine. Matthew Herbet will also play with a full live band, following the release of his new album The Shakes, as well as Erased Tapes duo Kiasmos, DFA alumni The Juan Maclean and Dublin noise-rockers Girl Band. As for DJs, the likes of Will Bankhead, Inga Copeland, James Pants and Mssingno have all been confirmed.

The programme also features lectures and talks from the likes of Andreas Dorau & Sven Regener, Mute founder Daniel Miller, Matthew Herbert, Owen Pallett and Dr. Tom Fritz, with more to be announced closer to the date.

Pop-Kultur takes place 26-28 August in Berghain. The whole line-up with more than 60 acts can be found at their official website. The presale starts in one week, on Wednesday, 29 April, via the festival’s website.
