DJing is soon to be part of the music GCSE

DJ Harvey: A DJ who didn't learn his trade at school.

Would you get As and Bs on the 1s and 2s?

In an intersting turn of events Seb Ross, the head of examining board AQA’s music department, has announced that DJing will now be included on the GCSE music syllabus. This represents the ever-shifting weight and importance that dance music has in contemporary culture.

“Dance music – like any kind of music – is about performing with skill and understanding how music creates mood and meaning.” Said Ross, “A good DJ makes what they’re doing sound effortless, but there’s a huge amount of musical understanding behind this and DJing is hugely relevant to today’s students.”

We can’t say fairer than that. Good on you Seb Ross.
