Olivier Rousteing announces Balmain and H&M collaboration

Models Kendall Jenner and Jourdan Dunn dropped hints via social media before joining Rousteing at the Billboard Music Awards to reveal the project.

No images of the collection have been officially released but both Kendall and Jourdan wore pieces from the line at last night’s award ceremony. Balmain have previously worked with Kendall’s sister Kim who starred in the fashion house’s campaign alongside husband Kanye West.

Speaking about the partnership with style.com Rousteing revealed his ambitions for his budget #BalmainArmy. “H&M allows me the unique possibility of bringing everyone into the world of Balmain, get a piece of the dream and create a global #HMBalmaination: a movement of togetherness, fuelled on a hashtag. The collaboration felt extremely natural to me: H&M is a brand that everybody connects to. It calls for unity, and I am all for it.”

H&M have previously brought designs by Alexander Wang, Isabel Marant, Versace, Karl Lagerfeld, Lanvin and Cavalli (where Rousteing was working as an assistant) to the high street. He has described his latest project as “different from the others. H&M really challenged themselves with craftsmanship, with the high couture level of France, and the results are great.”

The collection will be available worldwide from 5 November 2015.
