“of course it’s lame. That’s why it’s funny.”
Three Canadian politicians have had ‘rock t-shirts’ printed with the iconic Nine Inch Nails logo in support of their ‘Build Alberta Together’ campaign.
Their three initials (Rachel Notley, Don Iveson and Naheed Neshi) make up the ‘NIN’ of the logo.
It’s all a bit cringey, but at least they seem self-aware – Neshi, the Mayor of Calgary, defended the campaign on social media, saying “of course it’s lame. That’s why it’s funny.”
See them showing off their new garms on Twitter below.
UPDATE: In an interview with CBC, Mayor of Edmonton Don Iveson revealed that the politicians have been accused of “infringement”, and that they “got advice that there were some concerns about the trademark and essentially to cease and desist”. Oh dear.
