St Pauls Carnival cancelled

Event management concerns mean the festival will not be going ahead

Bristol cultural mainstay St Pauls carnival has been cancelled due to event management concerns and will be replaced by a family fun day in the Malcolm X Community Centre in St Pauls.

“Funding is not the issue here,” festival director Cleo Lake told Bristol 24/7. “It is the management element of organising a massive, unticketed event on the street. We have tried to work with the right people but unfortunately it hasn’t worked for us this year.”

This is the third time the festival has been cancelled in its 47-year history. The organisers assured Bristol 24/7 that they are working hard to bring the festival back for 2016.
