Electronic pioneer Dieter Moebius has passed away

Dieter Moebius passed away at age 71. No cause of death has been confirmed.

German composer and musician Moebius was one of the founding fathers of today’s electronic music. His work alongside Conny Plank and Hans-Joachim Roedelius in Cluster laid paths in sound experimentation and instrument development. He was a prolific solo artist, a frequent collaborator and long-time friend of Brian Eno as well as a member of the Kraturock band Harmonia alongside Roedelius and Neu!’s Michael Rother.

Moebius’ former bandmate Michael Rother broke the news on Facebook yesterday saying ““Very sad news today for all friends of Dieter Moebius and his unique music, our friend, neighbour and collaborator passed away this morning … He will be missed dearly by all of us.”

No details have been confirmed as to the cause, location or time of 71 year-old’s death at present.
