Variant covers include Captain America as A$AP Rocky and Iron Man as 50 Cent
The first of 50 hip-hop covers planned by Marvel have been revealed. The tributes to legendary albums include Howard the Duck as Ol’ Dirty Bastard, and Squirrel Girl as Tyler the Creator, complete with squirrel pal.
“For years, Marvel Comics and Hip-Hop culture have been engaged in an ongoing dialog,” Marvel Editor-In-Chief Axel Alonso said in a press release. “Beginning this October, we will shine a spotlight on the seamless relationship between those two unique forces.”
UPDATE
Axel Alonso, Marvel’s Editor-in-Chief has contributed three new covers including Nas’ Illmatic featuring Spiderman, The Roots’ Illadelph Halflife with The Avengers and Pete Rock & Cl Smooth’s Mecca and The Soul Brother with a Hawkeye spin. Marvel have also announced that they plan to do 50 covers in the series.
