Darkstar release disturbing video for Pin Secure

The UK duo’s new video reflects the “bleak, devastating reality” of post-election Britain.

Darkstar have shared the video for Pin Secure, the lead track from their third full length album Foam Island, which is released in the UK on 25 September via Warp.

With vocal samples from a speech by David Cameron, the video depicts supermarket checkout operators who work nightshift and consume anti-immigrant media. As the video goes on, things get progressively surreal and disturbing. You can watch it below.

In a press release, the video’s director Matthew Halsall said: “The general election result was really devastating for me and in many ways it showed the power of the traditional right wing press. The ‘hard working’ people of Britain are tricked on a daily basis to hate asylum seekers, immigrants and ‘benefit cheats’ not tax dodging corporations or corrupt politicians. I wanted to somehow reflect the bleak, devastating reality of this in a video that could not be anything other than shocking, vile and attention grabbing.”
