The legacy of R&B luminary Aaliyah has reached new heights as fans are trying to get cosmetic giant MAC to release a limited edition makeup line based on her style.
Using an online petition and the hashtag #AaliyahForMac, fans have been trying to persuade MAC to drop a range of eyeshadows, lipsticks, glosses, contouring products, false lashes and eyebrow pencils based on the singer’s iconic looks.
So far, the @AaliyahForMac Twitter has been supported by some US radio stations as well Aaliyah’s friend and collaborator Missy Elliot. Aaliyah’s brother Rashad Haughton has also endorsed the motion.
Jennifer Risinger who organised the petition wrote, “Aaliyah stands for Mac’s mission of “All ages, All races, All sexes.” She was a risk taker, innovator, edgy, street but sweet, & R and B’s Princess. She continues to influence today’s mainstream artist & people around the world still love and celebrate her life and music every year!”
