Skepta announces mixtape with Westwood, drops updates on new album

And that Westwood tape is imminent

Skepta has got Tim Westwood on board to host his forthcoming mixtape which will feature all-new and unreleased songs. The grime sensation spoke to hot 97’s Peter Rosenberg last Friday on working with Drake, the pressures of working in London’s grime scene – and those hotly-awaited new releases.

“I was trying to put my album out earlier this year in March” he told Rosenberg of the new album release date. “I got a manager and I’m talking like ‘yo, I wanna put my album out’, and she was like ‘What are you doing? Why would you do that? Let’s go round the world and give out samples, you know… I’m not saying I don’t care and I’m being nonchalant about the album, but the pressure to put it out as been put to the side.”

Don’t worry though, as it seems that a Westwood x Skeppy tape is very much on the way.

“We did a fire tape still” he revealed. “That’s coming out in a minute. I got a new song and new mixtape dropping.”

Skepta was effusive in his praise for Westwood in the interview. “That’s the legend right there… Time’s moving on, init, and he probably thinks that people [makes ‘moving on’ hand gesture]… but I don’t think that stuff, and I have a blueprint in my head of how I want it to come out and how I want it and how classic I want it. We put a tape together, old bars, new bars, unreleased songs.”
