Ableton’s Link is now available in beta

The new technology lets you play several electronic instruments together without a complicated MIDI setup

Ableton have released a new technology that makes keeping electronic instruments in time easier than ever before. By linking multiple instruments to the same network over wifi, Link automatically syncs the beats together to make digital jamming just as simple as it is with a live band. If someone ups the tempo, the rest of the devices follow, and if someone leaves, their beat carries on, with no wires attached.

While Link is still in beta for now, iOS apps with Link capabilites will soon be available from the likes of Korg and Audiobus.

If you’re a Live 9 user, you can join the beta program here as part of the latest free Live 9.5.1 update, and to see more information on the new tech, check out the official website.
