The electronic experimentalist talks through the progression of her ‘laptop music’ at Ableton’s Loop Summit
Holly Herndon presented an audio-visual talk recorded at Ableton’s Loop summit for music makers in Berlin at the end of October.
The Fader are hosting the video of that talk, in which Herndon tracks her progression within a genre she names ‘laptop music’.
She describes the hostility that she was met with when she used only a laptop in clubs when she first started out, and how government surveillance, internet age aesthetics and collaborations with Mat Dryhurst, Metahaven and others inform her mission to capture the ‘sound of now’.
