New Berlin mall may put Berghain’s future at risk

A new mall and bowling alley are being built in the derelict space adjacent to the popular Berlin night club

Plans to build a new family entertainment complex near to the building which houses Berghain may put the infamous Berlin nightclub’s future in danger.

The derelict land around the adjacent Mercedes-Benz arena has been bought by a company who are set to build a music hall, mall, bowling alley, cinema, restaurants and other family friendly businesses.

Although this news doesn’t directly mean that Berghain will be forced to move or close it does mirror previous circumstances when the club’s predecessor Ostgut had to move in 2004 due to the construction of the Mercedes-Benz arena itself.
