The eponymous LP will be released on Jagjaguwar

Blighted by controversy around their original name, Viet Cong, the band are back with a new name and new forthcoming LP.

Preoccupations’ new album under their new moniker will an eponymous effort released via Jagjaguwar on 16 September.

Focussing on “a series of surreal vignettes depicting various childhood fears and phobias”, the album will feature songs including Anxiety, Monotony, Degraded, Stimulation, and Fever.

Monotony is a dead end job; Anxiety is changing as a band,” says frontman Matt Flegel. “Memory is watching someone lose their mind; Fever is comforting someone. It’s all drawing from very specific things.”
