Stevie Wonder, Dave Chappelle, The Roots pay tribute to Prince

A huge variety of artists took to the stage at last night’s BET awards to pay tribute to the late singer by performing his songs

Last night’s Black Entertainment Television awards included performances from some of the biggest names in music including Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar but it was a moving tribute to Prince that really stole the show.

The Roots, Erykah Badu and Bilal linked up to play The Ballad of Dorothy Parker and The Beautiful Ones before Stevie Wonder and Tori Kelly covered Take Me With U and Jennifer Hudson sang a version of Purple Rain.

Maxwell also performed a cover of Prince-penned Nothing Compares 2 U and Janelle Monae later performed a medley including Delirious, Kiss, Pop Life and I Would Die 4 U, and Sheila E closed the evening with another medley.
